introductions

My journey into the world of fishing began in childhood, I’d spend hours catching perch with float-fished worms at a local pond.

At the age of 11, I was introduced to the art of fly fishing. When  learning to fish on a small stillwater fishery, I’ll never forget hooking my first rainbow trout which slammed into a strightlined buzzer – it nearly yanked the rod out of my hand.

Since then, fly fishing has become somewhat of an obsession.

Why FLYRUN

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some great and varied fishing, from quaint  winter grayling on the river test, to the adrenaline rush of sea trout under the cover of night on the mighty River Tefi.

When I was a little older my parents moved to mid-wales. I spent a lot of my teenage years fishing the river and lakes of the Elan valley in pursuit of wild trout and grayling.

This is where I discovered my passion for river fly fishing. For me nothing compares to fooling a wild trout feeding on dry flies under an awkward tree, or catching a big grayling down deep on euro nymphs.

When I first started fishing rivers it wasn’t always easy. My own learning curve was a fairly slow one, in the beginning I’d often blank more sessions than I’d catch. I know first hand how frustrating this is. But it was these experiences that ultimately fueled my desire to share knowledge and observations gained from my time on the water.

And so, FLYRUN was born. This platform is dedicated to providing valuable resources and guidance for anglers of all levels, whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned veteran. My hope is that through FLYRUN, I can help others make the most of their time on the water and experience the same joy and fulfillment that fishing has brought to my life.
